The Lakeside Lodge is an excellent place to vacation or host a small event. The 1500 square foot deck overlooking the lake is a great place to gather and relax or entertain. The property has 2 buildings. The first is a bunk house with 10 beds and 1 bathroom with a walk in shower. The back building has a utility room with washer/dryer, full bathroom, 4 Full over Full bunks upstairs in the game room, a large gathering room overlooking the lake with a full kitchen and high top table that seats 8 as well a furniture for viewing the Flatscreen TV. You can walk directly from the back entertainment room onto the deck and there is plenty of seating as well as a charcoal grill for cooking out. Retired and at age 81 I decided to construct a lodge based upon a career that I never had the opportunity fulfill during my more youthful years. My goal was to design a facility for visitors that will leave a lasting memory of their visit to Reelfoot Lake. As there is no other lake similar to the “Earthquake Lake” Albert Moore, a local artist, aided with the design of the Reelfoot Room by painting a mural that has many stories involved with life among the swamp critters. Mr. Moore also consulted with creating an overall feeling that places our visitors among the Reelfoot wildlife. His work can be seen in the Reelfoot Room. For those new to the area, Reelfoot Lake is located in the northwest corner of Tennessee and is noted for its unique beauty, fishing and wildlife viewing. The 15,000 acre lake was created by a series of violent earthquakes in 1811-1812 that caused the Mississippi River to flow backwards for a short period of time. This phenomena created Reelfoot Lake. The park’s ecosystem is unlike any other place in Tennessee. Reelfoot Lake is a flooded forest. While Majestic Cypress trees rise above the water, below the surface are many submerged Cypress stumps. A variety of aquatic plants and flowers occupy the shoreline and saturate the shallow water. The lake harbors almost every kind of shore and wading bird.
