2 arrested after man killed in bar fight

OBION COUNTY, TN (KFVS) - Two men face charges after a Union City man died after a fight at a bar Saturday night.

David Thomas McBride, 55, of Union City, died Saturday night from blunt trauma to the head after a fight broke out between several people at Hobies' 22 Club. The club is at 1628 West Highway 22 between Union City and Reelfoot Lake.

Obion County Sheriff Jerry Vastbinder says the fight started inside the bar around 11 p.m. Saturday and spilled over into the parking lot of the bar.

Sheriff Vastbinder says several of the bar patrons became involved in the confrontation outside. McBride was standing outside watching the fight and later became involved. He was flipped during the fight and received a head injury, according to Vastbinder.

Derek Kirk Jones, 34, of Dyersburg has been charged with reckless homicide.

Joseph Wayne Rogers, 27, of Dyersburg has been charged with reckless endangerment.

Both men were taken to the Obion County Jail.

They are due in court on Tuesday at 1 p.m. for arraignment.

David McBride was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital, Union City were he was pronounced dead.
